Rate Increase Notification

RATE INCREASE NOTIFICATION

Bear Creek Special Utility District (SUD) purchases all treated water from North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD).  NTMWD notified the SUD in September 2022 that the cost of treated water would increase by 13% beginning October 1, 2022.

On October 14, 2022, Bear Creek SUD contracted with Raftelis Financial Consultants to prepare a water utility rate study. The study included the projection of budget items, such as annual costs related to labor, power, materials, capital expenditures, plant investment, O&M expenses, transfers, reserve contributions and debt service coverage.  The results of the rate study were presented to the Board of Directors on February 27, 2023.  After the rate study was completed, the recommendation was a proposed 15% rate revenue increase.

Upon consideration of the information available to the SUD, on March 20, 2023, the Board of Directors adopted a 15% increase to its water service rates.
